My dream holiday on second life!!

In spite of a couple of minor setbacks, a vacation in Dominican Republic can be totally awesome. There is not much sight-seeing and the weather may disappoint in the wrong time of the year. But beautiful sandy beaches are bound to make it a winner.Secondlife uses a 3D graphic so it's like a real life experience! I explored around the place with a many clicks. I wandered around until i came across a beach
I think the most beautiful beach in the world is the Matira Beach on the southern of Bora Bora which is one of the islands of Tahiti. Bora Bora has earned a reputation as one of the most romantic destinations in the world. The Matira Beach is a perfect white sand beach and its give way to emerald waters where impossibly colored fish animate the coral gardens. To me i think that sea water which are  very clear will eventually up my day. We can also swim and chill right beside the water with a beautiful scenery. With a wide coastline, soft white sand, warm water and plenty of hotels, restaurants and shopping within walking distance it’s impossible to get bored here. The vibrant nightlife attracts a partying crowd and the jet skis keep the volume cranked to high during the day, so those looking for peace and quiet might want to head elsewhere.

wk7 – ‘Invisible Web (Database)

Today during class we were introduced to the functionality of invisible web and we were asked if it is more effective to search the invisible web than using search engine, meta-search engine or subject directories. Well, I think that it is more effective to use the invisible web (databases) than using search engines, meta-search engines or subject directories as through the use of invisible web I am able to find my previous relevant sources that I used for my assignment on the first page rather than search engines for which I would have to sift multiple pages to find a source relevant to my topic as the search engine relevance ranking may not be able to entirely correct.

We were also asked to name two particular databases which we would be using for our course and  our research topics. For me I would use Temasek Polytechnic EBSCO HOST database for my research topic as it provides multiple relevant sources related to my topic, furthermore it also provides additional search features like Full text option which displays all the search results with links to the full text article found at the bottom of the results unlike search engines which only displays the web page and the user would sometimes have to navigate through the webpage to find the full text document. Next, the Ebscohost provide me with the Boolean operators and the space for the keywords between each boolean operator, allowing me to save the inconvenience and make life easier for searching. The return result provides multiple relevant article related to my topic as it  have show words on impact of youth on social networking. Especially the first few articles can be consisted the most relevant to my topic itself.

Summary for week 6 (DOGPILE)

Oh well, this week we need to try out this search engine called DOGPILE. Haha so I've gone to this website as I was curious anyway. The DOGPILE page was totally entertaining to me I guess, I've got to explain it this way haha. You know why? Just because there's a few cartoons of dog playing basketball, I think it was just so cute as compared to yahoo or google, but normally I just uses Google as its totally user-friendly to me, and it loads much faster than you could ever expect, so I'll always use google. One thing I dislike about dogpile is that the loading's totally slow! Maybe I couldn't judge everything regarding search engines, but seriously I think I won't use dogpile to search for anything as it doesn't work really properly. A few things that I would like to point out about DOGPILE is that, the search results always shows different categories no matter what I'm searching for, there's always other references which some users can choose. It has a same advanced search as google, so I guess maybe that makes a difference if I were to go advanced search which I'm not really sure about. So thats all I figured out for DOGPILE, I think it was hilarious but I wouldn't wanna use dogpile for any research I'm going to do. Because I'll always use either google or yahoo, thats all I could say!

Summary for week 5 (effective internet research)

The effective internet research must be rather appropriate due to some search results anyway. I've summarized everything in a right manner, to ensure that search results are more relavant, some ways of researching must be rather concerned about. Like for example,  boolean operators includes “AND”, “OR” and “AND NOT”. If  you're gonna include “AND” inside your search, the results would narrowed down and the search results would only show the phrases that you searched for. As for using “OR” in your search, this will expand your search, including the words that you’ve googled. This is what I've discovered throughout my research. As well as, I found out that however, most search engines uses “AND” as their default operator. But some search engines also uses “+” and “-” signs. That was really amazing for me to know because I've never thought that search engines can be used in sucha different way. Something which I'll like to share is that linking words with boolean operators and the use of parentheses, research will be alot more easy and effective. This smart way of search is actually kind of easy to understand. As it is just like a way of solving sums. These are all that I've discovered during my whole process of understanding effective internet research and I strongly understand clearly now that, as to compare with the normal way of google-ling, this is soo much faster and relevant whereas the normal way alwasy show alot of search results and irrelevant things!

E-shopping at second life

Hi there, recently I just created an account for second life e-shopping so I thought I could just share with you with this blogpost. I tried my best to figure out what second life is about. There’s a checklist of how to use Second Life so i followed the guide. After following the checklist, I found out that the game wasn't really fantastic enough and I’m lazy to explore around.

Firstly, I've already looked through second life. I was quite stunned at first because I don't really know how to use second life, so I slowly follow the guidesheet and tried to figure out what is it about. While I was doing that, at the same time I decided to click onto any button that I think is interesting.

So yup! I came across this character which I think that this outfit looks lively to me. I thought this would the right outfit that I'm looking into so I decided to choose this outfit. The reason why I've chosen this outfit is because I think that this tight fit shirt would look good if this is worn on a muscular guy.

Secondly, I looked into further information regarding this wonderful private island which caught my eyes.A private island is a place to let people to relax and relief stress because in singapore, people always feel stressed out. This private island is a place whereby people can have their outdoor activities like suntanning, swimming as well as sports activities like beach volleyball and many other interesting activities.

Nevertheless, this place make me feel really relieved because I know that I won't be able to find this feeling anymore. This place is full of entertainment and it makes me feel really comfortable to be at.

Thirdly, I believe that a place with such a wonderful scenery whereby a good custom made car cannot be missed. A car is the most important transportation in a private island because the island is too big, and it won't be possible if the people were to be walking around the island. It'd much more convenient. As this island's expenses is way higher as compared to normal living expenses, so I think a car would be a compulsary transportation in this island.

LASTLY I ADD THEM ALL TO MY CART! LOOK! 1 PRIVATE ISLAND,1 CARS,1 SHIRT

This are the items that i bought. It was fun shopping around except that all this aren’t real… If only all these were real.. I tell you, you will be standing by the island singing songs all day long. hahaha. So after purchasing, we need to check out. I’ve print screen the steps. So these are the steps

So right now we need to go into cart to see what are the items that i have puchase.
ITS TIME TO CHECK OUT!! And after that you need to place your order.
They said "Your purchase is scheduled for delivery. An email receipt is on its way to you.Thank you for shopping on the Marketplace.

Anyway, this e-shopping experience was fun!.

Lastly, to compare e-shopping in Second Life and the real world, there are both advantages and disadvantages. The best thing about shopping in Second Life is that you can find $0 things whereas in the real world, its impossible to have it! Also, shopping in Second Life, you can find all sorts of things in one website! As for shopping in the real world, you will get the real product to yourself. And also, shopping in the real world, purchasing things is easier, as there isn’t soo much steps.
Overall, I think shopping in second life bring me to a better view as well as i can see that lost of items are not found in real life.
